Carrying unwanted extra fat can be dangerous. The increased risks of
heart attacks, high blood pressure, arthritis and complications of
chest infections can all be as a result of being overweight. Losing weight quickly (yo-yo dieting) can also be dangerous.
The Image Clinic recognises that long term healthy eating is the
most successful way to lose excess fat and maintain a healthy
weight but sometimes it’s not that easy to switch from chips to
baked potatoes or deep fried cod to grilled cod. Being told to
resist seconds of everything and stop raiding the fridge is very
hard to do when you’ve always done it.
The use of Reductil or Xenical and other medications available
support you as you re-adjust your eating pattern
and your taste buds, will help you work towards reaching and
maintaining a healthy weight.
At your first consultation the The Image Clinic doctor will explain
how the treatments prescribed for you work and he prescribe the
right one for you. All The Image Clinic’s consulting doctors are experienced,
registered family practitioners or hospital doctor's who will be able to give you sound
medical advice and support.
What is Reductil and how does it work?
Reductil acts on the brain quite differently from any previous or
existing slimming medicines acting on the parts of the brain which
control food intake. Reductil helps you to feel more satisfied with
smaller helpings of food, so that you eat less.
There is no evidence of potential for abuse or addiction.
What is Xenical and how does it work?
Xenical acts as a fat blocker, acting on the enzymes in the wall of
the intestine, preventing the fat from being absorbed into the body.
Fat is very high in calories so only a little has to get into the
body to give a big effect on the amount of fat stored.
The Image Clinic encourages fortnightly consultations and supply of
treatment. Xenical however does not require such regular medical
supervision; longer intervals and supplies can be arranged.
There is no evidence of potential for abuse or addiction.
